Also, A1 is one of the largest private operator of fixed Internet access in Belarus, providing subscribers with high-speed Internet access based on its own fiber optic network using Ethernet and GPON technologies. At the same time, a range of services for organizing Internet access via an individual fiber line is provided for legal entities.

The active development of the network took place in 2016-2018, when subscribers of the providers Atlant Telecom (Minsk), Aichyna Plus (Minsk), Belinfonet (Minsk), Garant (Gomel and Vitebsk) joined the operator's network, "Summit" (Polotsk), "Ranak Media" (Svetlogorsk) and partly "Business Network" (Minsk).

In September 2017, A1 launched its own data processing center (DPC) in Minsk. The data center occupied an area of 7.5 thousand sq. square meters and today is one of the largest and most modern in Belarus.

A1 is also committed to helping Belarusians rediscover their heritage: traditions, history, culture and other elements of national heritage. The company pays special attention to the most important Belarusian artifacts, such as the Belarusian language, national art and corners of untouched nature.

People donate old gadgets en masse in exchange for 10,000 minutes: the number of handed over used mobile phones is approaching 10,000 pieces - these are the results of the first two weeks of the velcom initiative, organized with care for the environment.

Most old and faulty devices are handed over in the capital and regional centers. The leader, as expected, was Minsk, which accounts for more than a third of recycled phones and tablets. Each fifth used device is received by velcom representatives in Gomel. Mogilev is in third place with 9% of digital devices that will be recycled taking into account the interests of environmentalists.

Among the cities with high level ecological consciousness hit Pinsk. In two weeks, its inhabitants handed over 5 times more old phones than they managed to collect in Brest. Novopolotsk is actively getting rid of used gadgets in the Vitebsk region, Zhlobin and Rechitsa in the Gomel region, Lida in the Grodno region, Bobruisk in the Mogilev region, and Borisov and Slutsk in the Minsk region.

“Belarusians willingly supported the initiative and now they are recycling old equipment in almost all cities of the country. But this is only the beginning, since a significant part of old and faulty mobile phones and tablets is still gathering dust in cupboards and mezzanines. More and more people understand that it is more correct and more profitable to give an old gadget for recycling to a velcom office and get 10,000 minutes for it than to throw it in the trash. Each subscriber can make his own contribution to the improvement of the environment", - the head of marketing department of velcom is convinced Julia Daineko.

An old phone or tablet can be handed over for recycling at any velcom sales center. In return, the owner of the device receives 10,000 minutes within the network (except for subscribers of the "Privet" line), which can be freely used for 90 days. The age, model and condition of the device does not matter. Bonus minutes can either be credited to your number or given as a gift to relatives and friends. Everyone who wants to become a new velcom subscriber will get a SIM card with 10,000 minutes on the spot as a reward for properly disposed of the device.

It should be reminded that velcom was the first operator in Belarus to install eco-boxes. As they are filled, old gadgets are transferred to the organization for the processing of waste electrical and electronic equipment - BelVTI OJSC. The velcom operator, in turn, makes sure that phones and tablets are recycled without harm to the environment, the telecom operator writes.
