roses from polymer clay. Master Class

Dear needlewomen) I present to your attention the extraordinary beauty of polymer clay roses. All flowers handmade and a master class below - from Evgenia Volosova

We prepare clay of two shades of pink - darker and lighter. And tightly wrap them in a film (I work with clay that hardens in air).

First, we sculpt the base for the flower from a dark shade of clay and put it on a wire smeared with glue. Such a base can be replaced with a lighter purchased “bulb” made of cotton wool or a papier-mâché ball. Often, craftsmen sculpt roses without such a base at all.

We pinch off a piece of clay of a dark shade, roll it out with our fingers, giving the shape of a petal. I give the texture of the petal with the help of a special mold, but you can do without it by stroking the petal in the palm of your hand - an imprint similar to veins will remain on the soft clay.

Some masters first dry the petals and only then collect the flower. I prefer to stick raw petals, so it is more convenient to correct, and then I dry the whole rose.

We glue the first petal to the base, smearing it with glue only on the right side.

We glue the next petal with an overlap, so that the middle of the second petal coincides with the edge of the first.

Glue the third petal in the same way, tucking it under the edge of the first petal. We smear the first petal with glue and glue it on top of the third. You should get such a middle of a rose.

The next layer will consist of five petals. For him, I mix a little dark and a little more light clay. We start again by gluing the petal only halfway. Further along the same lines.

In order not to crush the raw petals during work, I stick the flowers into a piece of foam. They dry right there :)

With two rows of petals, the rose looks like this:

Similarly, we sculpt subsequent layers of petals, only we take clay of a light shade. Again, five petals, but they should be larger and wider with each new layer. One more thing - the new layer should be located 1 mm lower than the previous one, and the edges of the petals should be slightly bent and pinched in the center.

Rose with three rows of petals:

... and with four rows.

This is where I decided to stop. The rose is ready, it remains only to supplement it with sepals and stick around the stem with green clay. If desired, you can tint the petals with pastels :)

, foamiran , genuine leather and even cut from plastic bottles blanks. These materials can be made stunningly beautiful. But in recent times needlewomen increasingly began to use in their work such a plastic and interesting material for making flowers, as well as other crafts, such as clay. Ceramic floristry every year becomes more and more popular and in demand. Among the wide variety of materials from which the needlewomen learned to make flowers, polymer (or plastic) clay has recently taken its rightful place. Of course, those who do an excellent job of folding flowers from ribbons, fabrics, foamiran, corrugated paper or leather will master clay no less masterfully. After all, this is a very interesting and plastic material from which you can create truly stunning beauty, including polymer clay roses.

Ceramic floristry

This direction of applied art is becoming more and more popular; clay products are in good demand. Plastic roses can be used in different ways: in flower arrangements or handmade jewelry, but in any case they will look great. Moreover, there are no two identical flowers made of clay. They can be very similar in appearance, but not a single craftswoman will be able to achieve absolute identity. Yes, there is no need for this - after all, handmade flowers made of plastic, like bouquets made of them, delight connoisseurs of this type of art.

Clay flowers are used to effectively decorate various interior objects:

  • panel;
  • wall clocks;
  • furniture and other items.

In addition to interior objects, plastic roses can decorate gift wrapping, women's jewelry and accessories, caskets and even wedding bouquets. By the way, the design of wedding events is now quite a popular direction, so the profession of a master in ceramic floristry has become popular.

Wherein different types clays are used for various purposes. So, clay, which requires firing, is used in the manufacture of beads, hairpins and headbands, handbags and brooches. And the one that has the ability to harden on its own is used to create flower arrangements, where the petals have a given shape.

Clay sculpting is not only interesting, but also useful, because this activity can be one of the great ways to spend time with children. Moreover, their age is not so important - even a crumb can knead and roll clay. And even little fidgets will like squeezing plastic out of the extruder. They, as if enchanted, will watch how a beautiful flower is obtained from the details they created. It is worth noting that compositions of such flowers "live" for quite a long time and can be perfectly preserved for many years.

So, we have already found out that even a beginner can easily try to make plastic flowers. Master classes for beginners are easiest to find on the Internet, there are also video tutorials and step-by-step training. One viewing is enough to create the simplest flower.

In the process of modeling, you will need not only hands, desire and material, but also convenient workplace, as well as tools. Let's dwell on them in a little more detail:

When working with clay, certain rules must be observed. This will help make the process not only fun, but also productive. For example, clay that quickly hardens in fresh air must be wrapped in cling film. You can sculpt from ready-made clay for only 10 minutes, then hardening begins and the material becomes less plastic. A completely product made of polymer material dries out in just a day.

If not all the packaging of clay is used, then you need to tightly close the remainder, and if it is not needed soon, then it is better to put a wet wipe in the packaging.

Since clay does not have the most rational ability to perfectly absorb dirt, before work you need to take care of the cleanliness of your hands and workplace, as well as remove your hair so that they do not get into the plastic. Sprinkling clay with talc helps to slightly reduce the absorption of various debris.

If the polymer material has to be tinted, giving the desired shade, then it should be borne in mind that such clay will be stored less. Accordingly, it is worth calculating the amount of material required for a particular product.

By the way, there is a little trick: in order to return the lost plasticity to the clay, and not throw away the dried material, you can add a little hand cream or vegetable oil, constantly kneading the clay. But due to an excess amount of cream or oil, plastic may not keep its shape in the best way, tear or burst. Self-hardening clay produces more fragile and brittle products that require careful handling.

DIY clay

It is far from always possible to purchase clay for modeling in a store, and even more so, the desired shade may not always be available. Therefore, there are ways to create plastic at home. To do this, you need 5-6 drops of baby oil and one teaspoon each of flour, cornstarch and all-purpose white glue. Oil is added to the ingredients mixed to the consistency of clay to eliminate excessive stickiness. acrylic paint you can give the desired shade by dropping it on a piece of plastic mass and mixing it in your hand.

Modeling for beginners

For beginners, polymer clay flowers are the first step into the world of ceramic floristry. One of the first flowers beginners learn to make is usually a polymer clay rose. The master class on its creation includes several stages.

Preparation of tools and materials

To create a rose you will need:

  • acrylic red and green;
  • polymer self-hardening clay;
  • floristic wire from No. 9 and above;
  • stack;
  • base for a bud;
  • rose petal and leaf mold;
  • nail scissors;
  • cutters of leaves, petal and sepal;
  • latex glue or PVA.

As a blank, you can use ready-made foam balls from a craft store, or cut them yourself from polyurethane foam. The second option allows you to more economically spend the mass for modeling. So, it's time to learn how to mold a rose from polymer clay.

Beginning of work

In white plastic, you need to add a little bit of red paint and knead until the color becomes uniform. Then take a small piece of plastic and roll it into a ball, which must be flattened with your fingers. Clay should be mashed to the finest possible state. Spread the lower edge of the petal with glue and glue to the workpiece, forming a closed bud.

flower formation

On top of the resulting bud, wind another 4-5 petals with larger and longer edges that could hide the workpiece. The edges of the petals must be twisted outward. When forming large petals, it is better to make veins on them using silicone molds. To do this, a piece of mass for the petal is clamped and squeezed between the molds. With the help of glue, large petals are glued, starting from the bottom of the foam base. In the process, the petals can and even need to be superimposed on each other - this is how a round flower head is formed. It is important not to forget to stack the edges of all the petals outward after they are glued.

Final stage

For the final stage, it is necessary to complete the sepal and stem. In the already described way, you should paint a small piece of plastic green. Form the mass in the form of a droplet with a sharp edge. Using nail scissors, the resulting drop should be cut into about 5 parts to the middle. Using a stack, each "antennae" needs to be flattened as thin as possible and additional cuts of different lengths should be made on each of them. Make prints on the resulting leaves with a relief mold.

On the wire, where we have already formed a bud, you need to put on our sepals and pull it up to the flower, pre-lubricated with glue. While the sepal is sticking, at the same time its base is formed in the form of a barrel with the fingers. If excess plastic remains, then it can be stretched along the stem, lowered along the wire and pressed down. Like a real flower, the ends of the sepals need to be bent down.

Little tricks

To make the rose as realistic as possible, it is not enough to mold and assemble it correctly - special attention must be paid to details - little things, as if by chance created by nature itself (tearing a petal, changing color at the edge of a leaf, etc.) Don't try to create the perfect flower, let it be not perfect, but very similar to the real one.

Do-it-yourself plastic roses can become a beautiful element of women's jewelry. In particular, such roses will look very impressive in earrings. You just need to follow some rules for creating such flowers. Firstly, the size of the rose, of course, can be different, depending on the desired result. But, in any case, such a flower will be different from the one attached to the stem.

We already know how to make a polymer clay rose, but keep in mind that roses for earrings should not be large in height. To do this, in the process of work, laying each row of petals, remove excess clay, twisting the flower between your fingers. The stem of the flower needs to be cut higher.

Often, whole compositions of roses are made in jewelry, for which it may be necessary that the bottom of the rose be cut evenly. But if, according to the author’s idea, the rose is as “natural” as possible, then it can be of medium height, and even have a sepal.

Accessories for earrings can be attached at the stage when the inner side of the flower is aligned, after which the product can be dried. Usually this reinforcement is enough, and it is no longer necessary to glue something additional. For decorations of a different kind, for example, hairpins, headbands, etc., the flowers will have to be dried first, and then glued with a heat gun.

What fashionista does not love beautiful exclusive jewelry? Today we will tell you how you can make a decoration for hair of any length with your own hands - beautiful roses from ordinary polymer clay. These rose studs will be an elegant accent in a summer look or will be a worthy addition to an evening outfit.

I think that everyone who has ever held plastic in their hands, even a beginner, will cope with the task. There is nothing complicated here. A bit of perseverance, stubbornness and perfectionism. Moreover, we have prepared for you a step-by-step master class with a photo. And then - everything is easy and beautiful, as in the photo!

We select the necessary materials and tools

To make polymer clay roses, we need:

  • Pieces of plastic in different colors;
  • Toothpicks;
  • Several beads;
  • Thin wire;
  • Hairpins.

Step-by-step master class on creating a rose from polymer clay with a photo

We sculpt immediately on a toothpick, better - on a bamboo one, they are thinner. Thus, a through vertical hole in the flower is obtained and the rose is less wrinkled by hands during the modeling process.

We wind a tiny plastic cake on a toothpick - we get the middle of a rose, as in the photo:

For all subsequent petal cakes, the edge MUST be flattened as much as possible, and the side to which you will attach the petal - remain plump. Only the edge should be thin.

And now we take the edge of the petal with two fingers and slightly squeeze it, while bending it back. We look at the photo.

Thus, we sculpt exactly as many petals as you see fit.

The finished flower at the base will look quite thick. With light finger movements, we “pull off” the “extra” plastic down the toothpick, and then cut it off with a blade.

And now we take the green color and roll 5 tiny sausages about a centimeter long, pointed at one end - these will be the sepals for our rose. Carefully attach them at the base of the flower.

Take some green plastic for the leaves. Roll into small balls the size of a pea. Then we gently flatten them, leaving one side thick and the other much thinner. Using a toothpick, make a hole in the thick side.

To give the leaf a natural look, apply neat stripes with a thin toothpick, as on real leaves.

For each polymer clay rose, we make approximately 2-3 such leaves and send them to the oven to bake for 20 minutes at 130 degrees. Then they are varnished and ready for assembly.

Making beautiful hair ornaments

At this stage, we figured out how to make beautiful clay roses, they turn out to be just as delightful and delicate. Now let's figure out how to make a hair ornament out of them.

So, we take a leaf, thread a wire through the hole and twist the wire by about 8-10 mm (now it’s clear why the base of the leaf must be plump? To withstand tight twisting!). Then we attach the second leaf, as in the photo.

And now pay attention to the next photo: we put the hairpin on top of the fork of the leaves.

Now we make several turns of wire around the hairpin - three turns in total.

And then we bring one end of the wire up and put a rose on it. Then we put a bead on the wire and pass the rose from top to bottom with the wire, pulling it tightly to the hairpin.

Attention! Very important! To make beautiful hairpins, try not to kink the wire before you pull it all the way back through the rose. Bends should generally be avoided, because any, the strongest wire, will break sooner or later if you make an effort. So you don't have to use them! We work gently and slowly.

The work is almost finished! It remains to fix and cut off the ends of the wire. Bring the ends up, between the roses and cut short. So the tip of the wire will not scratch the scalp, and the hair will not cling.

So that the composition does not crawl along the hairpin to the side, we fix it upside down and drop a drop of transparent glue like "Moment" on the place of twisting. The glue will help hold the wire, hairpin, and rose bases together. The only point is that the glue should not be very liquid, but lie down in a voluminous drop, which then slowly spreads. Well, or drip carefully and less, help yourself with a toothpick. But we definitely recommend gluing the elements.

That's all. Using the same technique, you can. We hope our step-by-step master class helped you to make beautiful things.

Video tutorials

As usual, in each article we post instructional video tutorials for beginners. Attention to the screen.

Here is such a beautiful ring with a rose decoration you can make according to this MK in the video.

Now we are studying the educational MK about earrings with roses.

Polymer molding is now very popular. With its help, you can realize any ideas. In this master class, I want to show how to make roses that can be used to make jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, etc.). These flowers can be attributed to one of the brightest and most popular. Let's try to create such beauty together.

We will need:

  • polymer clay (I use Fimo brand clay in this work);
  • stationery knife or scalpel;
  • carnation pins.

Completing the master class

1. We take a small piece, knead it well and roll it into sausages.

2. Cut into small pieces.

3. Take a piece and flatten it between your fingers to a thickness of just under 1 mm and pull it out a little.

5. Now we need to make the flower petals. To do this, take the next piece and flatten it between your fingers.

6. We apply this petal to the core and press it to the bottom of the resulting flower, leaving a free edge.

8. Thus, we collect the rose. The number of petals is up to you. But what more themes the rose is more magnificent and larger, which means that the pieces for the outer petals should be larger in size than for the inner petals.

9. When all the petals are collected on the rosebud, they can be slightly spread with your fingers and opened.

10. When you blind the required number of roses, you need to “bake” them in the oven or oven (see the temperature and baking time on your manufacturer's packaging). I bake my flowers at 125 degrees for 25 minutes.

So the detailed master class came to an end, in which I indicated detailed photos step by step. These roses are easy to make and can be used to create a variety of jewelry and decorations.
